Geography
Ivory Coast is a country on the south coast of West Africa directly on the Gulf of Guinea. The land has a total area of 322,460 km² (124,502 mi²) and a total coastline of 515 km (320.0 mi). This land area is approximately 80% of the area of California. Ivory Coast is thus the 28th biggest country in Africa and in terms of area ranked 69th worldwide. More than half of all residents (52%) live within cities. Around one in nine residents lives in Abidjan alone.Ivory Coast is comparatively low at an average elevation of 250 meters above sea level. The highest mountain peak (Mont Richard-Molard) is at 1,752 meters. The country has about 30 islands. There are direct national borders with the five neighboring countries Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia and Mali. The distance between New York City and the Capital Yamoussoukro is about 7,730 km (4,803 mi).

The climate in Ivory Coast
In Ivory Coast, as in all equatorial countries, there is a tropical climate. Unlike in Europe or the USA, there is almost no difference between the seasons. The daylight hours vary little, and the temperature differences between summer and winter are also lower. Depending on the season, the average daytime temperatures range between 29 and 35 degrees. In some parts of the country, the temperature rises to 37 °C.
