Asylum applications and refugees from Armenia

3,112 people from Armenia fled in 2021 and applied for asylum in other countries, according to UNHCR data. This corresponds to approximately 0.112% of all residents. The most common destination countries have been the United States, France and Germany. Overall, 95 percent of the asylum applications have been rejected. The most successful have been the refugees in Ukraine and Russia.

A total of 1,128 people fled to the United States from Armenia. With 39 positive decisions, 26.53 percent of all new applications have been accepted. Another 108 applications were rejected, and no decisions were made on those remaining in 2021.

Asylum applications from foreign refugees in Armenia

Armenia is not only a country from which many people escape. There are also refugees from other countries, who apply for asylum here and hope for a better future. In the year 2021, there have been 249 asylum applications from refugees of other countries. The most successful have been the refugees from Syria and from Iraq.
