Geography
Armenia is a landlocked country in the Eurasian Caucasus. The land has a total area of 29,740 km² (11,483 mi²). This land area is approximately 118% of the area of Maryland. Armenia is thus one of the smallest countries in Asia by area and ranked 143rd worldwide. More than half of all residents (63%) live within cities. More than every third inhabitant lives in Yerevan.Armenia lies at an average elevation of 1792 m above sea level and is therefore one of the highest countries in the world. The highest mountain peak (Aragaz) is at 4,090 meters. There is no access to the open sea. There are direct national borders with the four neighboring countries Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and Turkey. The distance between New York City and the Capital Yerevan is about 9,090 km (5,648 mi).

The climate in Armenia
A moderate climate zone determines the weather in Armenia. As usual in the northern hemisphere, the days in the summer months are not only warmer but also longer. Depending on the season, the average daytime temperatures range between 0 and 28 degrees. In some parts of the country, the temperature rises to 34 °C.
