Asylum applications and refugees in Bulgaria
10,947 asylum applications by refugees were received in 2021 in Bulgaria — according to UNHCR. Most of them came from Afghanistan, Syria and from Iraq. A total of 276 decisions have been made on initial applications. Around 54% of them were answered positively. 46 percent of asylum applications have been rejected in the first instance.
