Asylum applications and refugees in Latvia130 asylum applications by refugees were received in 2020 in Latvia - according to UNHCR. Most of them came from Belarus, Russia and from Syria. A total of 65 decisions have been made on initial applications. Which were around 15% answered positively. 85 percent of asylum applications have been rejected in the first instance. Most successful have been the applications of refugees from Iraq and from Turkey.
