The most destination countries hereof have been Italy, Germany and France. Overall, 81 percent of the asylum applications have been rejected. The most successful have been the refugees in the United States and in Brazil.

Asylum applications of foreign refugees in Guinea

Guinea is not only a country from which many people escape. There are also refugees from other countries, who apply for asylum here and hope for a better future. Only in the year 2016 there have been 120 asylum applications from refugees of other countries. The most successful have been the refugees of the Congo (Dem. Republic) and from Somalia.

National migrant stock from 1980 to 2015

In 2015 a total of 228,413 migrants lived in Guinea. These are all residents who live permanently in the country but were born in another country. The amount includes granted refugees but no asylum seekers. The data are based on the results of censuses, as well as on estimates and projections of the United Nations Population Division.
