Asylum applications of foreign refugees in Algeria

Algeria is not only a country from which many people escape. There are also refugees from other countries, who apply for asylum here and hope for a better future. National migrant stock from 1980 to 2015

In 2015 a total of 242,391 migrants lived in Algeria. These are all residents who live permanently in the country but were born in another country. The amount includes granted refugees but no asylum seekers. The data are based on the results of censuses, as well as on estimates and projections of the United Nations Population Division.
