The most destination countries hereof have been Germany, Netherlands and Lithuania. Overall, 79 percent of the asylum applications have been rejected. The most successful have been the refugees in Canada and in Switzerland.

In 2015 a total of 275,059 migrants lived in Tajikistan. These are all residents who live permanently in the country but were born in another country. The amount includes granted refugees but no asylum seekers. The data are based on the results of censuses, as well as on estimates and projections of the United Nations Population Division.
