Development of inflation rates on the Fijis

The inflation rate on the Fijis moved over the past years between 0.5% and 14.5%. For 2016, an inflation rate of 3.9% was calculated.

During the observation period from 1980 to 2016, the average inflation rate was 4.8% per year. Overall, the price increase was 434.78 %. An item that cost 100 Dollar in 1979 was 2016 so charged 534.78 Dollar.

In only a very few countries, the price increase is that high. The rate of 14.5% in 1980 means, that compared to the previous year all prices have been increased by an average of 14.5%. In comparison to other countries, the drastic price increases are no longer on average. Usually this is a sign of political and economic turmoil.
