Sunrise and sunset in Vietnam

Sunrise today: 6:32 h
Sunset today: 17:47 h
(Times for Hanoi)

Sunrise and sunset in Vietnam do not differ significantly throughout the year. The reason for this is the proximity to the equator. Thus, the sun swings north in the middle of the year and south at the turn of the year, without moving too far away. In countries like Canada or Norway, however, the difference is much more extreme.

With up to approximately 13:30 hours the longest days happen to be in June. In December a night in Hanoi lasts almost 14 hours.

During these days, the sun in Hanoi rises at 6:32. The early sunset at 17:47 makes the day currently a bit too short.

Where does the sun rise in Vietnam?

The sun always rises in the east, everywhere and regardless of the country or continent. The easternmost city in Vietnam is Tuy Hòa in Region Southern coastal strip. There, the sun rises at 6:07 am and sets at 5:44 pm these days. The latest sunset is currently experienced in the west in the city of Dien Bien Phu (Northwest) at 17:58.

Duration of the sunset

The distance from the equator and the path of the sun determines not only the time of sunrise and sunset. The farther a country is from the equator, the more oblique the sun's path is to the horizon, causing sunset to last for a different duration. Hanoi lies on the 21st degree of northern latitude and is therefore quite far away from the equator. While a sunset near the equator lasts only about 20 minutes, in Vietnam, this period averages 26 minutes. In June, it's about 27 minutes in Hanoi, while in December it's 25 minutes.
