Sunrise and sunset in Vietnam

Sunrise today: 5:13 h
Sunset today: 18:34 h
(Times for Hanoi)

Sunrise and sunset in Vietnam do not differ significantly throughout the year. The reason for this is the proximity to the equator. Thus, the sun swings north in the middle of the year and south at the turn of the year, without moving too far away. In countries like Canada or Norway, however, the difference is much more extreme.

With up to approximately 13:30 hours the longest days happen to be in June. In December a night in Hanoi lasts almost 14 hours.

Who wants to look at the sunrise during these days, has to wake up early. Sunrise in Hanoi starts already at 5:13 in the morning. The Sunset can currently be watched at about 18:34 in the early evening.

Duration of the sunset

The distance from the equator and the path of the sun determines not only the time of sunrise and sunset. The farther a country is from the equator, the more oblique the sun's path is to the horizon, causing sunset to last for a different duration. Hanoi lies on the 21st degree of northern latitude and is therefore quite far away from the equator. While a sunset near the equator lasts only about 20 minutes, in Vietnam, this period averages 26 minutes. In June, it's about 27 minutes in Hanoi, while in December it's 25 minutes.
