Telecommunication in Jordan

Compared to the United States, Jordan is massively lagging behind in the development of telecommunications. Under the country code +962, there were a total of 7.70 million connections in 2021. Among them were 7.28 million mobile phones, which corresponds to an average of 0.65 per person. In the US, this figure is 1.1 mobile phones per person.

With about 69,473 webhosts, Jordan is below the world's average by population. At the end of 2020, 1,385 of these, or about 2 percent, were secured with SSL or comparable encryption.

With an average download speed of 81.58 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Jordan ranks 49th in an international comparison. The upload rate was only 77.17 Mbit/second (26th place).
In mobile internet, i.e., on tablets and smartphones, Jordan comes 97th with a download speed of 20.59 Mbit/second. The upload speed of around 14 Mbit was enough for 32nd place.
