Sunrise and sunset in Indonesia

Sunrise today: 5:57 h
Sunset today: 17:46 h
(Times for Jakarta)

Sunrise and sunset in Indonesia do not differ significantly throughout the year. The reason for this is the proximity to the equator. Thus, the sun swings north in the middle of the year and south at the turn of the year, without moving too far away. In countries like Canada or Norway, however, the difference is much more extreme.

With up to approximately 12:30 hours the longest days happen to be in December. In June a night in Jakarta lasts almost 13 hours.

During these days, the sun in Jakarta rises at 5:57. The early sunset at 17:46 makes the day currently a bit too short.

Duration of the sunset

The distance from the equator and the path of the sun determines not only the time of sunrise and sunset. The farther a country is from the equator, the more oblique the sun's path is to the horizon, causing sunset to last for a different duration. Jakarta lies on the 6th degree of southern latitude and thus very close to the equator. While a sunset in the northern USA or central Europe can take almost an hour, in Indonesia, it lasts only an average of 24 minutes. Indonesia is so close to the equator that there is no noticeable difference even between June and December.
