Birth and death rate in Puerto Rico

Population growth is the result of the birth rate, the mortality rate and the migration rate. For example, the year 2021 in the graph: The population in Puerto Rico decreased by about 17,950 inhabitants. In the same year, the death rate was 8.6 per 1,000 people (~ 28,200 deaths) and the birth rate was 5.9 per 1,000 people (~ 19,400 births). As a result, around 9,150 inhabitants have migrated to other countries.

Over the past 10 years, the number of average deaths per year was 29,539 in Puerto Rico. The number of births was 27,369 annually.
