Sunset Guyana

Sunrise and sunset in Guyana

Sunrise today: 5:38 h
Sunset today: 18:11 h
(Times for Georgetown)

Times for sunrise and sunset in Guyana won't differ much all over the year. The reason is the only fair proximity to the equator. So in summer the sun moves slightly to the north and in the winter slightly back to south, but without much change in the distance. E.g. in the Nordic countries of Europe the difference is much more extreme.

With up to approximately 12:30 hours the longest days happen to be in June. In December a night in Georgetown lasts almost 13 hours.

In these days the sun in Georgetown rises at 5:38. The Sunset can currently be watched at about 18:11 Uhr in the early evening.

Where does the sun rise in Guyana?

The sun always rises in the east, everywhere and regardless of the country or continent. The easternmost city in Guyana is Skeldon in the region of East Berbice-Corentyne. There, the sun rises at 5:35 am and sets at 6:06 pm these days. The latest sunset is currently experienced in the west in the city of Lethem (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) at 6:12 pm.

Duration of the sunset

The distance from the equator and the path of the sun determines not only the time of sunrise and sunset. The farther a country is from the equator, the more oblique the sun's path is to the horizon. And this causes a different duration that a sunset takes. Georgetown lies on the 7th degree of northern latitude and thus very close to the equator. While a sunset in the northern USA or central Europe can take almost an hour, in Guyana it only lasts an average of 23 minutes. Guyana is so close to the equator that there is no noticeable difference even between June and December.
