At the end of 2020, 528,380 of these, or about 61 percent, were secured with SSL or comparable encryption.

Development of telephone and internet connections
With an average download speed of 198.24 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Hong Kong ranks 4th in an international comparison. The upload rate was only 145.43 Mbit/second (4th place).In mobile internet, i.e., on tablets and smartphones, Hong Kong comes 30th with a download speed of 61.12 Mbit/second. The upload speed of around 13 Mbit was only enough for 41st place.
