Among them were 19.90 million million mobile phones, which corresponds to an average of 2.7 per person. In the EU, this figure is 1.2 mobile phones per person.

The expansion of the broadband Internet in Hong Kong is roughly equal to the EU average. Around 91% of all residents have access to the Internet. Approximately 36% have their own fast Internet connection, which is at least faster than the previous ISDN (more than 2048 kbit/s).

With about 870,041 webhosts, Hong Kong is below the world's average by population.
