Development of inflation rates in Sint Maarten
The inflation rate for consumer prices in Sint Maarten moved over the past 11 years between -0.4% and 6.0%. For 2017, an inflation rate of 2.2% was calculated.
During the observation period from 2006 to 2017, the average inflation rate was 2.5%
per year. Overall, the price increase was 30.64 %. An item that cost 100 Guilder in 2006 was so charged 130.64 Guilder in the beginning of 2018.
In only a few countries negative inflation rates are achieved. This means that the general price level is declining and consumer prices get cheaper. This case is called deflation.In comparison to other countries, the ample price increases are a bit out of the ordinary.
