Telecommunication in BarbadosThe development of telecommunications in Barbados is roughly equivalent to the average of the European Union. Under the country code +1809, there were a total of 457,369 connections in 2020. Among them were 329,326 mobile phones, which corresponds to an average of 1.1 per person. In the EU, this figure is 1.2 mobile phones per person.
The expansion of the broadband Internet in Barbados is roughly equal to the EU average. Around 82% of all residents have access to the Internet. Approximately 37% have their own fast Internet connection, which is at least faster than the previous ISDN (more than 2048 kbit/s).
With about 1,524 webhosts, Barbados is below the world's average by population. At the end of 2020, 298 million of these, or about 20 percent, were secured with SSL or comparable encryption.

Development of telephone and internet connectionsWith an average download speed of 109.41 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Barbados ranked 45th in an international comparison. The upload rate was only 60.52 Mbit/second (39th place). The quality of the Internet, consisting of signal fluctuations (jitter) and latency, is very far ahead at 25th place.
In mobile internet, i.e. on tablets and smartphones, Barbados comes th with a download speed of 0 Mbit/second. The upload speed of around 0 Mbit was enough for th place.
