Telecommunication in Barbados

The development of telecommunications in Barbados is roughly equivalent to the United States. Under the country code +1809, there were a total of 423,000 connections in 2020. Among them were 295,000 mobile phones, which corresponds to an average of 1.0 per person. In the US, this figure is 1.1 mobile phones per person.
With about 1,524 webhosts, Barbados is below the world's average by population. At the end of 2020, 298 of these, or about 20 percent, were secured with SSL or comparable encryption.

With an average download speed of 81.92 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Barbados ranked 45th in an international comparison. The upload rate was only 54 Mbit/second (30th place).
