From 1960 to 2017 the population of Zimbabwe increased from 3.75 million to 16.53 million people. This is a growth by 341.1 percent in 57 years. The highest increase in Zimbabwe was recorded in 1983 with 3.96%. The smallest increase in 2003 with 1.07%.

In the same period, the total population of all countries worldwide increased by 148.2 percent.

Birth- and deathrate in Zimbabwe

Population growth is the result of the birth rate, the mortality rate and the migration rate. The example of the year 2017 in the graph: The population in Zimbabwe increased by about 380,000 inhabitants. In the same year, the death rate was 7.9 per 1000 people (~ 127,000 deaths) and the birth rate was 32.3 per 1000 people (~ 522,000 births). As a result, around 15,000 inhabitants have migrated to other countries.
