Sunrise and sunset in Uganda

Sunrise today: 6:51 h
Sunset today: 19:00 h

Sunrise and sunset in Uganda do not differ significantly throughout the year. The reason for this is the proximity to the equator. With up to approximately 12:10 hours the longest days happen to be in June. In November a night in Kampala lasts almost 12 hours.

During these days, the sun in Kampala rises at 6:51. The Sunset can currently be watched at about 19:00 in the early evening.

Where does the sun rise in Uganda?

The sun always rises in the east, everywhere and regardless of the country or continent. The easternmost city in Uganda is Moroto in the region of Northern Region. There, the sun rises at 6:43 am and sets at 6:52 pm these days. The latest sunset is currently experienced in the west in the city of Ntungamo (Western Region) at 19:12.

Duration of the sunset

The distance from the equator and the path of the sun determines not only the time of sunrise and sunset. The farther a country is from the equator, the more oblique the sun's path is to the horizon, causing sunset to last for a different duration. Kampala lies on the 0th degree of northern latitude and thus very close to the equator. While a sunset in the northern USA or central Europe can take almost an hour, in Uganda, it lasts only an average of 24 minutes. Uganda is so close to the equator that there is no noticeable difference even between June and December.
