Development of inflation rates in Mauritius
The inflation rate for consumer prices in Mauritius moved over the past 40 years between 0.4% and 42.0%. For 2019, an inflation rate of 0.4% was calculated.
During the observation period from 1979 to 2019, the average inflation rate was 7.3%
per year. Overall, the price increase was 1,457.46 %. An item that cost 100 Rupee in 1979 was so charged 1,557.46 Rupee in the beginning of 2020.
In only a very few countries, the price increase is that high. The rate of 42.0% in 1980 means, that compared to the previous year all prices have been increased by an average of 42.0%.
