
Population growth in the Republic of the Congo

Around 68% of the inhabitants live in the country's larger cities. This growing trend of urbanization is increasing by 3.2% annually.

Birth- and deathrate in the Republic of the Congo
Population growth is the result of the birth rate, the mortality rate and the migration rate. The example of the year 2019 in the graph: The population in the Congo increased by about 136,000 inhabitants. In the same year, the death rate was 6.6 per 1000 people (~ 34,700 deaths) and the birth rate was 32.4 per 1000 people (~ 170,000 births). As a result, around 700 inhabitants have to be added by migration from other countries.Over the past 10 years, the number of average deaths per year was 35,448 in the Congo. The number of births was 166,802 annually.
