Abu Sayyaf

The Terrorist group "Abu Sayyaf" is a rather small association. It is active in Philippines and Malaysia. In the years 2013 to 2017 alone, a total of 240 terrorist acts with 111 killed people were registered. Among them was only 1 suicide attack.

The most frequently affected targets were Private citizens and Business. The most common forms of terrorism were Bombing and Kidnapping.

Only those acts of terrorism were evaluated, in which the terrorist organisation Abu Sayyaf claimed the main responsibility. There may well be further attacks on which Abu Sayyaf has declared itself to be a subordinate group or in which a subordinate role has been identified by the authorities.
