Geography
Nauru is an island state in the South Pacific Ocean. The dwarf state has a total area of only 21 km² (eight mi²) and a total coastline of 30 km (18.6 mi). This land area is about 0.6 times the size of Manhattan. This makes Nauru the second smallest country in Oceania after Tokelau and the seventh smallest worldwide. With 593 inhabitants per km², it is also the most densely populated country in Oceania.The highest elevation (Command Ridge in Aiwo) reaches only 61 meters. Nauru has no direct neighbors. The distance between New York City and the Capital Yaren is about 12,470 km (7,748 mi).
