Macedonian speaking countries

Macedonian is one out of two official languages in North Macedonia and is spoken in 2 other countries as monther tongue by a part of the population. The Macedonian language (native name: македонски јазик) has its roots in the Indo-European language family.

As a percentage of the total population, the largest share of around 67 percent is in North Macedonia. A total of about 1.6 million people worldwide speak Macedonian as their mother tongue.
