Estonian is the official language in Estonia and is spoken on the Åland Islands as monther tongue by a part of the population. The Estonian language (native name: eesti, eesti keel) has its roots in the Uralic language family.

As a percentage of the total population, the largest share of around 69 percent is in Estonia. A total of about 911,891.0 people worldwide speak Estonian as their mother tongue.
