Burmese is the official language in Myanmar and is spoken in Thailand as monther tongue by a part of the population. The Burmese language (native name: ဗမာစာ) has its roots in the Sino-Tibetan language family.As a percentage of the total population, the largest share of around 69 percent is in Myanmar. A total of about 38.1 million people worldwide speak Burmese as their mother tongue.
