Afar speaking countries

Afar is no official language in any country, but is spoken as mother tongue in 3 countries by a minor part of the population. The Afar language (native name: Afaraf) has its roots in the Afro-Asiatic language family.

With a share of around 35%, it is most widespread in Djibouti. A total of about 2.5 million people worldwide speak Afar as their mother tongue.
