Coastal region is one of the warmest region in Montenegro with an average daily high temperature of 22 degrees. Several months of the year it is warm to hot at temperatures continuously above 25 degrees, sometimes up to 35 degrees. Due to the warmer temperatures the best time for traveling is from June to September. Less attractive are the cold months from November to March.

Only very small villages are located here. The two biggest are Herceg-Novi and Budva. The region has a west-east extension of about 60 km and over 70 km from north to south.
It consists of the seven municipalities Bar, Budva, Cetinje, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat and Ulcinj.
