The development of telecommunications in Hungary is roughly equivalent to the United States. Under the country code +36, there were a total of 13.34 million connections in 2021. Among them were 10.38 million mobile phones, which corresponds to an average of 1.1 per person. In the US, this figure is 1.1 mobile phones per person.With about 3.15 million webhosts, Hungary is below the world's average by population. At the end of 2020, 319,932 of these, or about 10 percent, were secured with SSL or comparable encryption.

Development of telephone and internet connections
With an average download speed of 138.80 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Hungary ranks 20th in an international comparison. The upload rate of only 34.39 Mbit/second was significantly lower (57th place).In mobile internet, i.e., on tablets and smartphones, Hungary comes 49th with a download speed of 44.17 Mbit/second. The upload speed of around 14 Mbit was enough for 27th place.
