Geography

Gibraltar is a peninsula at the southern tip of Spain. The distance to Africa is only about 21 km. The dwarf state has a total area of only 7 km² (three mi²) and a total coastline of 12 km (7.5 mi). This land area is about 2.0 times the size of NY Central Park. Gibraltar is thus the third smallest country worldwide after Vatican and Monaco. With 4,804 inhabitants per km², it is also one of the most densely populated countries.

Spain ist the only directly neighboring country of Gibraltar. The distance between New York City and the Capital Gibraltar is about 5,850 km (3,635 mi).
