Asylum applications and refugees from Albania

13,490 people from Albania fled in 2021 and applied for asylum in other countries, according to UNHCR data. This corresponds to approximately 0.480% of all residents. The most common destination countries have been the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Overall, 91 percent of the asylum applications have been rejected. The most successful have been the refugees in Canada and the United Kingdom.

A total of 240 people fled to the United States from Albania. With 31 positive decisions, 15.58 percent of all new applications have been accepted. Another 168 applications were rejected, and no decisions were made on those remaining in 2021.
