Compared to the United States, Lebanon is massively lagging behind in the development of telecommunications. Under the country code +961, there were a total of 5.16 million connections in 2021. Among them were 4.29 million mobile phones, which corresponds to an average of 0.76 per person. In the US, this figure is 1.1 mobile phones per person.With about 64,926 webhosts, Lebanon is below the world's average by population. At the end of 2020, 1,838 of these, or about 3 percent, were secured with SSL or comparable encryption.

Development of telephone and internet connections
With an average download speed of 7.3 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Lebanon ranks 164th in an international comparison. The upload rate was only 4.7 Mbit/second (158th place).In mobile internet, i.e., on tablets and smartphones, Lebanon comes 73rd with a download speed of 27.28 Mbit/second. The upload speed of around 9 Mbit was only enough for 105th place.
