Geography
Georgia is a country in the Caucasus region on the Black Sea. The land has a total area of 69,700 km² (26,911 mi²) and a total coastline of 310 km (192.6 mi). This land area is approximately 87% of the area of Maine. Georgia is thus the 18th smallest country in Asia and ranked 122nd in the world. More than half of all residents (60%) live within cities. Almost every third resident lives in Tbilisi.Georgia lies at an average elevation of 1432 m above sea level and is therefore one of the highest countries in the world. The highest mountain peak (Dombai-Ulgen) is at 4,046 meters. There are direct national borders with the four neighboring countries Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey. The distance between New York City and the Capital Tbilisi is about 8,990 km (5,586 mi).

The climate in Georgia
A moderate climate zone determines the weather in Georgia. As usual in the northern hemisphere, the days in the summer months are not only warmer but also longer. Depending on the season, the average daytime temperatures range between 10 and 31 degrees. In some parts of the country, the temperature rises to 32 °C.
