Geography

Saint Kitts and Nevis is an island state in the caribbean sea. The dwarf state has a total area of only 260 km² (one hundred mi²) and a total coastline of 135 km (83.9 mi). This land area is about 1.5 times the size of Washington, D.C. Saint Kitts and Nevis is thus one of the smallest countries in the Americas by area and ranked 216th worldwide.

The highest mountain peak (Mount Liamuiga) is at 1,156 meters. Besides the two main islands, the country has 2 other small islands. Saint Kitts and Nevis has no direct neighbors. The distance between New York City and the Capital Basseterre is about 2,820 km (1,752 mi).
