Telecommunication in Mexico

Compared to the United States, Mexico has a slight downturn in the development of telecommunications. Under the country code +52, there were a total of 148.29 million connections in 2021. Among them were 123.92 million mobile phones, which corresponds to an average of 0.98 per person. In the US, this figure is 1.1 mobile phones per person.

With about 16.23 million webhosts, Mexico is below the world's average by population. At the end of 2020, 41,615 of these, or about 0 percent, were secured with SSL or comparable encryption.

Development of telephone and internet connections

With an average download speed of 49.61 Mbit/second for fixed-network broadband internet, Mexico ranks 80th in an international comparison. The upload rate of only 18.79 Mbit/second was significantly lower (96th place).
In mobile internet, i.e., on tablets and smartphones, Mexico comes 76th with a download speed of 25.92 Mbit/second. The upload speed of around 11 Mbit was enough for 73rd place.
