Geography

The Cayman Islands are an island state south of Cuba in the Caribbean. The dwarf state has a total area of only 260 km² and a total coastline of 160 km. This area is about 1.5 times the size of Washington, D.C. Besides the main island, 2 other smaller islands belong to the country. The Cayman Islands have no direct neighbours. The distance between New York City and the Capital George Town is about 2,490 km.

The climate on the Cayman Islands

On the Cayman Islands, as in all equatorial countries, there is a tropical climate. Unlike in Europe or the USA, there is almost no difference between the seasons. The daylight hours vary little, and the temperature differences between summer and winter are also lesser. Depending on the season, the average daytime temperatures range between 28 and 32 degrees. In the colder months, the average night temperatures drop down to 23 °C.
