The OAS is an alliance of states that currently consists of 34 countries mainly located in the Caribbean and South America.

All member states comprise a total area of 40.10 million km² and about 1.01 billion people. This is 26.5 percent of the habitable area around the world and 13 percent of the world population. With an economic output of 30.342 trillion US dollars annually, they represent around 31.43 percent of the global economy. The value of all exported goods from these 34 countries was 4.724 trillion US dollars per year at last count.
