Development of inflation rates in Tunisia
The inflation rate for consumer prices in Tunisia moved over the past 35 years between 2.0% and 8.9%. For 2019, an inflation rate of 6.7% was calculated.
During the observation period from 1984 to 2019, the
average inflation rate was 4.9% per year. Overall, the price increase was 438.35 %. An item that cost 100 Dinar in 1984 was so charged 538.35 Dinar in the beginning of 2020.
As the price increases are consistently in the positive range, this means that goods and services in the country have become increasingly more expensive over the years. In comparison to other countries, the drastic price increases are no longer on average. Usually this is a sign of political and economic turmoil.
