Development of inflation rates in Swaziland
The inflation rate for consumer prices in Swaziland moved over the past 39 years between 3.4% and 20.5%. For 2018, an inflation rate of 4.8% was calculated.
During the observation period from 1979 to 2018, the average inflation rate was 10.1%
per year. Overall, the price increase was 4,088.52 %. An item that cost 100 Lilangeni in 1979 was so charged 4,188.52 Lilangeni in the beginning of 2019.
In only a very few countries, the price increase is that high. The rate of 20.5% in 1985 means, that compared to the previous year all prices have been increased by an average of 20.5%.
