Geography
Mozambique is a country in the southeast of Africa at the Indian Ocean. The land has a total area of 786,380 km² (303,623 mi²) and a total coastline of 2,470 km (1,534.8 mi). This land area is approximately 113% of the area of Texas. Mozambique is thus one of the largest countries in Africa and the 36th biggest in the world. Most of the population (62%) resides within rural regions.Mozambique is comparatively low at an average elevation of 345 meters above sea level. The highest mountain peak (Monte Binga) is at 2,436 meters. The country has about 70 islands. There are direct national borders with the six neighboring countries Malawi, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The distance between New York City and the Capital Maputo is about 13,210 km (8,208 mi).

The climate in Mozambique
In Mozambique, as in all equatorial countries, there is a tropical climate. Unlike in Europe or the USA, there is almost no difference between the seasons. The daylight hours vary little, and the temperature differences between summer and winter are also lower. Depending on the season, the average daytime temperatures range between 26 and 31 degrees. In some parts of the country, the temperature rises to 37 °C. In the colder months, and depending in the region, the temperature drops to 15 °C in a month's average.Average daytime and nighttime temperatures
